Trade Information

As the Capital of the Alliance of Independent States, Alioth is a major center for trade in the surrounding area. The presence of several Alliance Industrial systems within 15 Light Years of Alioth present a good opportunity for traders to export food products from here. In addition, the expanding bureaucracy of the Alliance means that computers are always out of stock and consequently it is not uncommon to see BBS adverts offering high prices for the latest technology.

The most convenient route is between Alioth and Soholia (-1,5), although continued fears over a resurgence of Soholian Fever have meant that many traders prefer to travel the extra distance to Titican (-2,5). Wherever you choose to go, trading between Alioth and Soholia / Titican is an excellent two-way route. If you do decide to go to Soholia, be sure to take some medicines along with you - although some people have raised concerns about profiteering from the medicine trade, most people believe that the added profit is the only thing that keeps attracting traders to the system.

The run between Barnard's Star and Sol (0,0) is very popular with traders who are just starting out. This is because it is almost totally safe (since it is in the heart of the Federation), and profits can be made both ways.

There are quite a few profitable runs possible between the two systems, but the best one involves Computers and Robots. Buy as many of both as you can afford, or have space for. Generally, it's best to have even amounts. These can be sold at Sol for very nice profits.

Fruit and Veg. will attract good prices at Barnard's Star, and there are sometimes people willing to pay twice market price to purchase them since the system is always out of stock. Luxury Goods and Liquor can also pay well, although these are never out of stock.

At Facece, you should buy equal amounts of Live Animals and Animal Skins and then take them to either Vequess (0,-4) or Sohoa (0,-4), depending on which destination has the most Naval deliveries going to it.

As far as imports are concerned, Computers, Slaves, and Luxury Goods fetch good prices, especially as they are always out of stock here, so some people will pay double to get these.

Gateway is one of the major agricultural systems in the Alliance, and as such is worth serious consideration by all traders. There are a good number of industrial and mining systems close by, which represent convenient markets for the products this system has to offer.

As mentioned in the section for Barnard's Star (-1,0), one of the safest routes in the galaxy is the run between Barnard's Star and Sol.
