Go back to the FFE page.

Warning : This page is one big spoiler !

There are two types of missions :

The standard, randomly generated, boring ones. I.e. Biographical..., Passage wanted, Assasinate, Bomb, Fast ship wanted, etc. The exciting (sometimes), read about them in the papers, non-standard exciting ones.

If you want to know about doing the standard ones, read the frontier page. As for the hand-coded missions, there are two types:

The Civilian Missions

1.The race for Jjagged Bbanner's new release. It doesn't pay that much, but it does your reputation wonders. (Your reputation reflects how much extra money you can ask for and whether you can do certain missions at all.) It's easy, so do it. [Or it is if you don't patch your game. With the patches you have to do a little more work: Jump out of the system and come back.]

2.Collecting a piece of Art from the Empire. I didn't do it, but it seems to be quite easy. The empire won't like you for it, but who wants to be liked by the empire ?

3.The civil war on Tiala.
1.Assasinating Dentara Rast. An excellent mission. You are offered 50000 to kill Dentara Rast on a civil war-torn planet. When you do the assasination, you have to do it in broad daylight, just after take-off, otherwise the victim will have disappeared from the ship. Very annoying. Just take off as soon as he does (without waiting for permission) and shoot missile at him. Then finish him off and hyperspace. Sell your ship (or not if you want to be found) and wait for the newspapers to read all about your assasination, the reaction of the warring parties, the reward put on your head, and your subsequent demise. All this while you're happily trading away on a peaceful trade-route somewhere, or even transporting that dolphin.

2.Assasinating the assasin of Dentara Rast. In a parallel universe you'd be assasinating yourself! If you don't take that assasination, a massive bounty is put on the head of the assasin, and you get to do the kill, if you can find him. I didn't do this one, so don't know the exact proceedings.

4.The hitchhikers. Want to be transported to some planet, where they turn out to be spies. I didn't take this mission, did anyone else ? It doesn't appear to be possible to complete this mission, as you are blown up as soon as you pick up the hitchhikers in order to return them to safety. [GameTek says this is fixed in the latest patch]

5.Rockforth legal academy. Rockforth legal academy needs to be reconstructed, and you're the person to do it. Get a few missiles, and dodge the hordes of ships that will attack you. As soon as you've dropped them, get out of there. Quite hard, but not impossible. If you're on a slow machine set detail to low. Make sure you come in flying low over ground level, and watch the other ships die.

6.The dolphin. A nice peaceful one. Just collect a nice dolphin and deliver it. RIG organised a campaign for a friend for the other dolphin, you see. You will need a passenger cabin for this.

7.A single hitchhiker. Wants to get out of reach from the Imperials because he's a spy. He might just have connections with NRS.

8.The 5 furies Is impossible, if you ask me. You have only three days to deliver it, and anyway, you are never given it!

9.The Argent's Quest The big one! See the mission-bug list for this... It's possible, but it's buggy. There appear to be several ways of obtaining the Argent's Quest. I simply bought a top-price seat at Turner's Requiem. You need to have shown allegiance to the Alliance previously to be offered the Argent. I think that your entry point depends on the political system you show allegiance to. E.g., if you have an imperial rank above your Federal rank, you will be offered the mission in Imperial space. The same thing however ends up happening in each of the threads.

You get the Argent's Quest (with a beautiful wiggly tail) and you have to obtain Mic Turner's Flight Recorder and take some pictures. The system is Pleione[32,32]. You can either go there and fight your way through the waves of INRA troops, or accept a special mission from the military and use the nuclear missile you got from them to destroy the INRA sattelite. (For information on how to accept that mission without crashing, see the bug-page.)

If you fail you get a second mission to pick up an agent from somewhere. But it's very hard to fail if you are prepared to accept the loss of some credit with either of the Navies. (I might be Sgt-Major, but the Feds still don't give me secret messages!)

10.The Thargoid Shuttle You are offered this when you return. Accept it! (If you haven't got a mission on your mission page, get one before you land at New Rossyth. It's the same bug as before, only this time you don't get the choice of accepting the transmission jammer.) Go to Polaris. Destroy the sattelite. Don't shoot at any Thargoids! Then make up your mind... And have a look at the...

bug-page...

11.There appear to be more events, but they don't happen in my version, as I'm not prepared to give my Thargoid to NRS. What happens if you do ? Mail me.

The Military Missions

1.The Thargoid scientist.A scientist gets to close to the truth about the Thargoids, and needs to be silenced. 2.The research base. You need a military drive for this and you will need to have a military camera. You won't get a camera unless you either do a reconaissance mission first (you need to get to the rank of Lord for that) or you obtain the Argent's quest. When you get there locate the satelite on your orbital map, nuke it, and fly down to the research base. The military tell you to jam transmissions, but I don't know how you're supposed to do that. I think the jammer starts working as soon as you obtain it. Again fly low over the ground.
