Most Adders were produced without a licence by the notorious Outworld Workshops, which was formed by disgruntled former employees of Spalder and Prime (the company which designed the ship), at a secret location. Its main claim to fame was that it was one of the few ships available at the time which could operate in both space and atmosphere. Its ability to rough-land on planets made it particularly popular with smugglers.

If you had to sum the Adder up in one word, "average" would be the one you used. It has a reasonably sized cargo hold, and you can fit quite a lot of equipment in it, especially if you fit a military drive. The Adder is probably best classified as a small trader since its lack of missile pylons reduce its combat effectiveness enough for it to fall short of being a true multirole ship. That said, it does handle pretty well in a fight.

The relative lack of weapon capability may put some pilots off, but if you very rarely use missiles you probably won't miss them that much. Pilots who regularly use missiles will probably be better off looking at the Spar, which is more combat-orientated and has a similar cargo capacity. Ultimately, the Adder is good value for money but you will end up trading it in for a more capable ship once you can afford to do so.
