ArcElite Ship Datacards

'ArcElite' is the Acorn Archimedes version of the original Elite, and its release in 1991 heralded the game's return to Acorn computers - this time running on the 32 bit RISC OS operating system. Acorn manufactured the BBC computers Elite began on and their software division, AcornSoft, first saw the potential of the most influential and possibly greatest space game in the history of computing. Arc Elite was written by Clive Gringas and Warren Burch with the blessing of original Elite authors Ian Bell and David Braben, and published by Hybrid.

Further details of what many regard as the best Elite ever can be found on Simon Challands' excellent Acorn Elite site.

This page exists so that the ship datacards from ArcElite can be seen by a wider audience. While some of the ships will doubtless be familiar to you, ArcElite introduced a number of new ships. The ships whose names appear in bold on this index page are new ships introduced for the game.

All datacards on this site are ©1991 Hybrid and appear with their permission.

Updates

20th of October 2003

Commander Steve pointed out that the link to the Viper datacard was missing. This has now been added.

24th of October 2002.

Added link to Caiman data card, the file for which had been on the server since the 29th of January 1998! Thanks to Chris Jordan of Hybrid for sending me the replacement card, and to DiGGr for sending me a scan of his Caiman card to complete the set (I noticed the existing caiman.jpg when connecting to the site to upload the new file).

Also changed the link to Simon Challands' site to point to the new location, as well as removing the link to the now defunct Acorn Computers website.
